Back 40 Landscaping took shape in 2013 when owners Sam and Natasha Maerz started helping homeowners improve and maintain their outdoor space. Sam has a true passion for lawncare, and this affection has brought him to want to provide a solution to homeowner’s problems, helping them regain their property, and enhancing the look of their space.

We strive to give our customers a different experience when it comes to working with a contractor. Our main focus when it comes to working with you is to make your experience the best as possible. We find out what is important to you, and implement your goals and dreams for your project.

Our open communication with you gives you peace of mind that we will show up when we say we will, you will be informed of any changes or issues that may arise, that your finished job will last, and most importantly, meets your expectations.

We care about your property as if it was our own, and protect your investments by using plywood roads so that our machines do not damage your existing landscaping. At the end of your project your space looks as if we were never there.

Back 40’s aim is to create spaces that will last for a lifetime, while giving you a custom experience worthy of remembering.

The Beginning

Sam began doing landscaping part-time for family and neighbors while still working as a firefighter. This was the year he realized there was a gap in the local market for honest, high-quality landscaping services, and he was determined to fill it.

A Full-Time Commitment

In 2020, Sam took the leap and left firefighting to pursue landscaping full-time, building Back 40 Landscaping on a foundation of integrity and craftsmanship.

A Family Business

Natasha joined the business full-time in 2021, leaving her job as a preschool teacher. Together, Sam and Natasha formed a husband-and-wife team, with Sam handling field operations and Natasha managing sales and administration.

Clients fill out a form, provide basic project details, and submit photos of their space. This is followed by a phone consultation to discuss the project in detail and schedule an on-site consultation.

2 | We Work Our Magic

During the on-site consultation, the team discusses the client's vision, project expectations, timeline, budget, and next steps. Once aligned, they commence the work.

3 | Enjoy Your New Space

Upon completion, clients are invited to a post-job walkthrough to inspect the work. They can enjoy their transformed outdoor area.
